Recommended profile for admission to the programme

It will be, in general terms, that of a graduate in Mathematics or Statistics (Bachelor, Graduate or assimilable foreign qualification) who accredits a training equivalent to that of a Master's degree in Research in Mathematics either by a Spanish University or by a foreign one with a similar level.

Taking into account the recommended entry profile, the Academic Committee of the Programme will decide on admission on the basis of the following criteria.

First and foremost, applicants who can prove that they meet any of the following conditions may be admitted:

a) Holding a Master's Degree in Mathematics Research or the Diploma of Advanced Studies of a Doctorate Programme in Mathematics regulated by RD 778/1998 issued by this or another Spanish University or having achieved research sufficiency in a Doctorate in Mathematics regulated by RD 185/1985.

b) Graduates in Mathematics, Graduates in Statistical Sciences and Techniques or Graduates in a related discipline, Higher Engineers and Architects who have passed a minimum of 300 ECTS credits in their official university studies as a whole, of which at least 60 must be at Master's level in the field of Mathematics.

c) Graduates with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, a Bachelor's degree in Statistics or a Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Architecture, from a university Master's degree with at least 60 credits of advanced content in mathematics.

d) Holding a degree obtained in accordance with foreign educational systems, without the need for homologation, with a profile similar to those described in the previous sections for Spanish degrees and after verification by the University of Valladolid that it accredits a level of training equivalent to that of the official Spanish Master's degree and that it qualifies in the country issuing the degree for access to doctoral studies.

In the cases described in sections b), c) and d), the Academic Committee of the Doctoral Programme may make definitive admission conditional on the completion of complementary courses of up to a maximum of 30 ECTS taken preferably from among the subjects of the Master's Degree in Mathematics Research at the University of Valladolid. In any case, the training complements will be compulsory for students who have obtained a university degree of 300 ECTS or more that does not include research credits in Mathematics in its syllabus.

Subsequently, for admission to the Doctoral Programme, the Academic Committee will evaluate the merits provided and accredited by the candidate in accordance with the following criteria with the weight indicated in each of them:

1. Academic Curriculum: 70%.

2. Reports submitted (Master's tutor, degree, others): 20%.

3. Other merits and reports, including, if considered appropriate, the personal interview: 10%

At the time of pre-enrolment, candidates must include a document signed by the supervisor of their thesis, in which he/she guarantees his/her availability for that direction (access to the document).
